Faculty and Students from Our College Attend the 2026 Members’ Congress and Academic Symposium of the Chinese Society for Foreign Agricultural Economics
From August 17 to 19, the “2026 Members’ Congress and Academic Symposium of the Chinese Society for Foreign Agricultural Economics,” co-hosted by the Chinese Society for Foreign Agricultural Economics, the Institute of Rural Development at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Sichuan Agricultural University, and organized by the School of Management and the School of Economics at Sichuan Agricultural University, was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Under the theme “High-Level Agricultural Opening-Up and Global Food Security Governance: Comparative Studies and Chinese Practices,” the conference brought together more than 400 experts and scholars from universities and research institutions across the country to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge theories and practical issues in the fields of agricultural economics and rural development. Associate Professor Peng Jiquan, Dr. Xiao Jian, and Master’s student Xiao Yongheng from our college were invited to attend the symposium.
The conference featured a total of 20 parallel forums, showcasing the latest research findings in areas such as high-level agricultural opening-up, global food security, new-quality productive forces in agriculture, digital agriculture and digital rural development, land systems and agricultural management, rural finance, and rural governance. In Parallel Forum 7, Dr. Xiao Jian delivered a presentation titled “How Does Digital Infrastructure Development Influence the Growth of Agricultural Production-Support Services: Market Expansion, Supply Capacity, and Internalization Masking,” focusing on the mechanisms through which digital infrastructure empowers agricultural production-support services and their boundary conditions; Master’s student Xiao Yongheng presented a paper titled “How Does Village Organization Promote Farmer Participation in the Construction of High-Standard Farmland?” at Parallel Forum 11. Focusing on the issue of farmer participation in the construction of high-standard farmland, he explored how to further leverage the leading role of farmers in this process from the perspectives of village organization and grassroots governance. Participation in this conference not only provided faculty and students with a valuable platform to showcase their research findings and receive face-to-face guidance from experts, but also effectively facilitated in-depth exchanges and intellectual dialogue with scholars from home and abroad.
